DoS Attack - is.gd Link Service goes down, takes a billion shortened URLs with it! Holy Crap! The Url shortener service is.gd is down due to high bandwidth DoS attacks. The service will be down temporarily as it fixes the problems and sets to work implementing a 3rd party DoS protection service to prevent a recurrence of the same issue. Apparently they have made some progress on this, but are still troubleshooting things and getting it right before they go live again. The shortened links are still appearing on twitter but are currently inactive. The popular is.gd URL shortening service has been offline for more than two days, taking with it more than a billion shortened URLs. These links are commonly used in tweets, emails, and text messages where long URLs are impractical. The latest update from ia.gd is.gd is that it is now back online. An explanation for the outage can be found at http://is.gd/news.php
